Meet Bob's sister, Kate. This patch replaces Bob's shapes with Kate's. In particular, the plain-Bob shapes, because it is difficult to tell a VacBob's sex because of those bulky suits.

To install, be sure that you have an interpreter for the programming language Python installed on your system. It comes with MacOS X and some Linux distributions, but you may have to install it for Windows. You can get an installer at http://www.python.org/download/ or some open-source package manager.

At the command line, run

SimpleShapesPatcher.py <source file> KateFemaleBobShapes.shpA <destination file>

You may have to make SimpleShapesPatcher.py executable or else add "python" in front of that command: python SimpleShapesPatcher.py ...

You may also open KateFemaleBobShapes.shpA in a shapes-file editor and copy the Bob collection to another shapes file.

It is completely compatible with existing "Bob" physics models; no need for any complicated editing of map files.

The artwork in this patch was created with a combination of the following:

Fractal Design Poser, using the "Female Business Suit" model and a retouched texture map. All the 3D rendering was done inside of Poser.

(if I remember correctly) Zygote's Parts and Props CD-ROM collection of 3D models, which supplied a wig and some shoes.

Ray Dream Designer, for making 3D models of the boot sleeves, the gun, the belt, and the monocle.

Adobe Photoshop, for doing all the 2D work, including modifying the "Female Business Suit" texture map to make it Bob-like, doing the extensive retouching of Poser model and rendering bugs, and also doing the painting of gunflare and blood splatter.

The software used to create these patches was Bungie's Anvil, and also Marathon Shapes Juggler 1.2, by Charles Lechasseur, and this patch has successfully been tested.

What's in a name? I had thought of "Mary", obviously from "Marathon", but I didn't like that name very much. So I searched for something short and snappy, something like "Bob", before I settled on "Tina", though I'm not completely happy with that one either. I thought some more, and renamed this one to "Kate". I'm sure that one can make this some Marathon-ish acronym, but I have yet to think of a good one.

And why this patch? I was dissatisfied with the various bimboish female-Bob patches, as being inappropriately dressed, and I wanted to create a patch of that type that was non-bimboish and in the style of the original Bobs.
